A Texas Holdem game can be played with anywhere from 2 players up to 10 players. In the game the dealer is designated by a button on the table (the button is just a small plastic disk), and the small and big blinds are placed in a clockwise direction from that button.

The small blind is equal to half of what the big blind is. The blind amounts depend on the limit you are playing at. In Texas Holdem the blinds are put in place of antes for a very good reason. This allows the other eight players at the table the ability to simply fold their cards free of charge.

After the blinds are posted, the dealer will then successively deal cards to each person around the table in a clockwise fashion, starting with the small blind. This continues for two rounds of the table, so that each player gets two hole cards. The last card of the deal should be dealt to the player on the button.

Rule Area Number 2 – Pre Flop Rules

The pre flop action starts with the person left of the big blind and continues around the table, ending with the big blind being last. Each person can choose one of three moves. The first is to simply fold the hand for free. The second is to call the big blind value to play in the hand. The third would be to post the big blind and then add on a raise of chips.

This amount you can raise is depicted by the type of game and limit you are playing at. Action will continue until it no one else raises the bets. The dealer then retrieves all bets and the hands were folded.

Rule Area Number 3 – The Flop Rules

The next stage in the game is the flop. The dealer begins with burning a single card. This means he deals it to the discard pile. He then deals three cards face up on the table. These three cards are the flop.

Each player now uses the two cards they own together with the three on the table to form their own five-card poker hand. The next round of betting begins with the small blind and bets continue around to the player on the dealer button.

Each player again must call, raise, or fold based on their current five-card poker hand. Action continues clockwise repeatedly until all the raises have been called, or all poker hands are folded.

Rule Area Number 4 – Turn Round Rules

The dealer no burns another card face down and then deals out a single card face up. This is known as the turn. So now there are four community cards on the table. Each player can use any of these cards and the two cards they own to make their five-card poker hand.

The betting action continues exactly as the last rounds, starting with the small blind, going clockwise around to the dealer with each player having the ability to call, raise or fold.

Rule Area Number 5 – River Round Rules

Once more a burn card is dealt to the side and then the final card is dealt to the board. This card is known as the river. There are now 5 cards on the table and no more will be dealt. So every player has their best five-card poker hand.

All the action starts again with the small blind and everyone left has the option to call, raise or fold. After this betting round is completed, the showdown will take place.

Rule Area Number 6 – Showdown Rules

Now the game is coming to an end. The remaining players turn their two hole cards face up to show their final best five-card poker hand. The best hand wins the pot. The hand rankings used are the standard poker hand rankings.

The round is over and the next round will begin by moving the dealer button and the blinds one spot to the left. All the players wash, rinse and repeat and have a great time playing the next game.

All you have to do is this. Avidly pay attention to your opponents, their stack sizes, how tight or loose they play and how aggressive they are playing, and see if you can guess when is the best time to bet out big with a bluff.

You do this from late position or the cutoff so that you have the information you need. When you do this, see if you can induce everyone to fold. If they do not you fold yourself and mark that as an unsuccessful bluff – you didn’t assess the board correctly. If you were successful that is marked as a correct assessment.

The main factor that is causing this is because playing a looser and more aggressive strategy relies on your opponents folding and your opponents only fold when they have sufficient information that they are willing to fold their hand based on that information.

Players at advance levels have the ability to guess hands, see flops coming and to perform advance odds calculation. They are willing to and trust themselves enough to actually fold on a hand when they don’t have a good feeling.

However, new poker players and intermediate poker players don’t have these skills. They don’t know when should be folding they don’t know what the opponents have and they don’t know or calculate everything well enough to be in comfort enough to fold based on their feeling or their knowledge.

For this reason the new players generally don’t fold and that is why some people who are implementing looser strategies are finding that they are getting beaten by calling stations that are getting lucky on the turn or river.

Then they all complain that all the other poker players are lucky getting suck outs and they are receiving bad beats. But really it’s a fundamental issue with the way they implementing their strategy. Playing looser and more aggressive don’t necessarily just work so you need to make sure you aren’t losing because of this.

#1 The Sheriff

There is a certain type of calling station known as the sheriff. The sheriff will call every bet to prevent anyone from bluffing at the table. He keeps everyone honest.

The sheriff calling station will pay to play at the showdown even when he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he doesn’t even have the best hand – all to ensure no one is bluffing.

Tip: Don’t bluff at a table with a sheriff, or at least make sure he isn’t in the hand.

#2 Premium Card Calling Stations

This is probably the most dangerous types of calling station. Premium card calling stations play solid tight play but then continue to call the cards all the way through the showdown.

The reason this player is more dangerous is because their original starting cards are actually stronger and more valuable and do have a more likely chance of making a great hand. If these players do make a pair or a two pair they always continued to play until the end.

Tip: The good part about these players is they will be in less hands because they are waiting for their strong pocket cards. So most of the time you can essentially go unchecked (excuse the pun).

Calling stations can be very annoying. That’s because these players sometimes tend to hit something on the later community cards, make a good hand and beat you. It can be very frustrating to lose to someone who has made their hand on the river simply because they continued to call (even when they had barely no odds of succeeding and “should” have folded.)

Even when the odds against them, calling stations will always call you just to see if they could possibly make a hand later on. Their ignorance is their fundamental weakness.

In all cases of ties, side cards are always used as tie breakers. In the event that both parties share the same hand, the kickers or cards on the side may be used to decide who wins.

A Detailed Outline Of All The Texas Hold’Em Rules

Poker is followed in a number of different varieties, the most common variant Texas Hold’Em. Texas Hold’Em on the surface looks like a very simple game but there are many rules to it. These rules are as follows.

The game begins when the two players to the dealer ante left. These players are called blinds because they are forced to blindly put money in the pot – before they see the cards.

Normally, the player to the dealer just to the left – called the Big Blind – antes an amount equal to the minimum bet, and the player to his left – the small blind – Antes half.

In a land-based casino, all bets placed before the player and not in the middle of the table thrown to track better what to keep each player bets. Then the dealer deals two cards face down to each player.

The other cards in the game are community cards that are shared by all players, each player receives two cards dealt exclusively his.

The first betting round begins with the player left from the small blind and goes around clockwise. Each player can match the bet of the big blind call or call a raise if the bet has been raised, or raise.

The big blind can do nothing, there has been no increase. If there was an increase in the big blind can call him out, or fold. The small blind can fold, or if it cannot increase by increasing his bet to the minimum bet was accepted call.

If there has been a raise, the small blind call the raise, re-raise or fold.

The dealer “burns” a card (she drops down on the table) and immersed in the next three cards -the “Flop” – then a second betting round follows, starting with the big blind and goes clockwise.

Each player may check (no use) if there were no bets against him, bet, or. If it was a bet before, a player can fold, call the bet or raise.

The dealer burns another card and another card – the “turn” – after the flop is added. Betting occurs as in the previous round, but in most games, usually the minimum bet doubles on this.

The second tip I have is to fine tune the tightness and aggressiveness of the TAG game you’ve decided is right for you.

If you want to tighten up a little, loosen up a little. Play more aggressive or call back the aggression it is completely up to you. Make sure you get the result you want.

My third tip is very fast. It is just to not listen to some players that say TAG is bad, or loose aggressive in bulk is much better.

Different strategies are good for different people. TAG is a proven strategy, it is extremely low risk and you can benefit massively from it. So just stick to TAG for now and when you get better you can diversify.
