Where Did Texas Hold ‘Em Come From?

by gcastle — Categories: Poker — Tags: , , , Leave a comment

Have you ever asked yourself the question ‘where did Texas Hold ‘Em come from?’ Well, in this article I reveal to you all the history and information about where this wonderful game came from.

Texas Hold ‘Em is one of the most popular games today. But where did it come from? Was it developed in a casino, or did it even come from Texas? The facts are interesting actually…

In fact, there isn’t any real clear evidence where it actually came from at all. From what the records best describe it originated in a town called Robstown, which is in Texas. Sometime in the 1800s it became a game that was played enough differently from poker and any other game that it could have been considered its own game in its own right.

At this point in time it was definitely the illegal poker games that were held in small back rooms in locations such as pubs, pool halls, and private dwellings. It’s these very people who really started the game of Hold ‘Em so we have them to thank for breaking the law for their passion.

But the game didn’t become really popular until even past the mid 1900s. In the late 60s a group of card playing enthusiasts, with a real love for this new style of poker really pushed the introduction of it into Vegas, the budding casino city.

From then on is history. Slowly but surely the game gained popularity and momentum. Soon it would be the number one most popular game around, but not before jumping a few more hurdles.

After 1967 when the game started to get speed in Vegas, it slowly but surely proliferated out; across America, to Europe and beyond. Around the 1980′s when the game really crossed over to Europe and received acceptance from the poker community over there. All of a sudden it was a hit over the world.

Indeed the game came from Robstown, Texas, in the heart of America but now the game is a worldwide phenomenon. It’s popularity, combined with new media such as the Internet and mobile phones, means that it remains as the number one front-runner to continue to stay the most common worldwide poker game.

At the start of this article you were asking yourself the question ‘where did Texas Hold ‘Em come from?’. Now you know exactly. Before you continue on to learn more, take a second to thank those first players who loved the game so much they played it illegally in back alleys way back in the 1800′s.

Once this is done, the dealer deals three cards openly on the table. This is called the flop.

Texas Hold Em Bluffing – Tips How To Semi-Bluff Properly To Maximise Profit

When playing Texas Hold Em bluffing, is an important skill to have. It’s a tactic that should be used to maximize profits. There are many types of bluff, the semi-bluff being a very powerful one. Read this article now to learn how to semi-bluff properly.

Texas Hold Em Poker is a game of strategy maps. To play the game successfully, you need to learn how to manipulate your opponents.

Some newcomers usually play too few hands, because they are waiting for the perfect hand or they are at the other extreme and are in many hands because they are overestimating the value of their hands. A good and successful player is to find the perfect balance between the two extremes.

One way to achieve this is to use the so-called semi-bluff. A player plays a semi-bluff play a hand that is certainly not the best hand at the moment at the table, but has the potential to overcome many other combinations of cards. The player is bluffing, but has a fallback plan.

A typical hand of a semibluff is suitable connectors with a high kick and a flop that contains only cards that lower your kicker. In this situation, you have a good potential for a sequel or even a flush.

Placing a perfect semi-bluff depends on your position on the table and your opponents. If you’re sitting in late position, a semi-bluff may cost you money if one player decides in a position prior to check-raise.

In general, a semibluff does not work well with many players who check-raised frequently. A good situation for a semi-bluff happens when you play against a few opponents who are usually in control.

Trying to play a semi-bluff can drive you to a troubled situation. If the river card is played and you only have a flush-draw or a draw open right end, your chances are relatively low to win the whole pot, unless you place a bet that forces all other players to fold. The same hand with a reasonable pair is a much stronger hand you can play tight.

There are certain factors that influence more opportunities to win with a semi-bluff. The player who plays a semi-bluff is to try to push all the other players on the game before the showdown. They therefore need to analyze the board and the possibilities of the other players carefully.

You should just answer the question, what cards does the other player need to take his bet or call? The fewer opportunities you give to other players have, the more likely you will win the pot.

Basic Texas Hold Em Strategy Secrets – 4 Proven Methods How To Win More

In this article I am going to reveal four proven Basic Texas Hold Em Strategy secrets anyone can use to instantly increase their success at the poker table. Don’t miss out on these ones.

The poker game of Texas Poker has swept the country. It seems that everyone from the amateur poker who plays on a Saturday night to the seasoned poker professionals is playing this exciting card game.

The game exploded on the Internet with dozens of poker sites currently available and new ones appearing every day. No matter if you play Texas Poker against the traditional way face-to-face or prefer to play anonymously, here are some tips and strategies will be useful to any player.

Basic Texas Hold Em Strategy Secrets – Have Discipline

This advice applies to all types of poker but it is particularly important for Texas Hold Em. No matter if you play in person or online, knowing “when to hold em and when fold em” is just half of the game. You must exercise the discipline to do what is best for that hand! Too bad players know they should not tilt, but do it anyway.

Basic Texas Hold Em Strategy Secrets – Use And Use Tells

When playing in person each player has a physical “saying” that may indicate a weak hand, strong hand or a bluff. Too many players fall into familiar patterns that can be easily captured by an opponent closely.

From time to time the treatment of a fairly good hand as if it were a poor hand will break up how you hold your cards or even how you stack your chips

Although there is no direct physical contact, players still have some mannerisms that can be used to “tell”: a sudden change in their mode of play when they have a very good hand or have the intention of bluffing.

Losing bluffs too much in one sitting is a sure way to tell the people you play and not the cards. Again periodically change your approach to certain types of hands.

Basic Texas Hold Em Strategy Secrets – Choose Your Game Blinds

The antes and blinds set the base value of the pot. Many players find themselves in games where the blind can force them to play when they might otherwise time.

In person if you are forced to wager more than you’re willing to present, then you should consider asking the host to lower the bar. If you are forced to wager more than you’re willing to, then you should find another game room with a lower limit.

Basic Texas Hold Em Strategy Secrets – Do Not Play To Just Win The Pot

You play to create a pot that is the biggest in profit.

Often, the player who has won more pots finds they are not the player who won the most money. Poker is the science of creating the largest pot to win with the best chance of having a good hand.

Too many “advanced” players start with a good hand and win a small pot that should have been much more with just a little cautious play. Some players wait for the perfect hand and then suddenly start raising every bet for signaling what they have.

How To Win Texas Hold Em Poker The Easy Way

If you are at all interested in winning Texas Hold Em Poker then you need to decide if you want to do it the easy way or the hard way. If you are interested in the easy way then read this article now.

There are many styles of play with poker, and not all of them are winning strategies. It may help you to learn some Hold Em tips and tricks to identify these.

Poker is a game of odds, chance and just plain luck, but there is some skill involved that can swing the odds towards a player who practices how to win.

How To Win Texas Hold Em Poker – Bankroll

The most important aspect to winning at poker is your bankroll. Without a bankroll, a player cannot be in the game; therefore, it is important to be smart with your money.

The most important rule is to never put all of your bankroll on the table at once. Even a four-of-a-kind can be beaten by a straight flush or a royal flush. It is suggested to start with an amount that is replaceable, about 20% (cash games).

For example, if you’re starting bankroll is $1000, and then sit at a table with no more than $200. This will ensure a chance to play again if the cards aren’t falling well or if a big hand is played and you’re given a “bad beat.”

There are times the table just doesn’t feel right. In these situations it never hurts to step down to a lower table and play for less.

How To Win Texas Hold Em Poker – Betting

Many hands are won and lost by betting. Betting can determine the outcome of a hand, even by a player with the worst hand.

The trick is to get a sense of the other players. Often players will give signs of the hands or their style. The check-raise is one of the strongest plays aside from “all in” at a table.

Predicting a raise or a bet from another player who is behind in position is a great way to reap rewards. It takes steady discipline to check “the nuts” (the best hand with the cards on the table), but with an avid raiser it can mean more money.

How To Win Texas Hold Em Poker – Position

Being in the dealer button position is always a great spot, as everyone else decides their fate within the hand prior to it. This can be a good time to make a move on middle pair, as long as everyone else in the hand has checked.

It is also a great position to have the best hand, as it may appear that the player in dealer position is making a move.

These tips can be used to better influence a player’s game. Bankroll, betting and position are the fundamentals to playing better poker. Knowing how to use these can result in more winnings, the entire reason for playing the game.

Practicing these will refine a good player’s style into becoming a great player. Practice these tips on lower limit tables, before swimming in the shark tank with the seasoned professionals. Keep in mind that the better players know how to spot another good player, and the use of these tactics may not be as effective on them.

In Texas Hold Em Poker the rules are precisely define the possible combinations of cards that a player can make. Texas Poker is played with 52 cards and in the game can participate from two to ten people.

The structure of the game is as follows: each player is dealt two cards that only he can see. On the table are placed 5 open cards (i.e. all players see them) that can be used by any player along with his 2 cards. Thus, each participant will produce their combination based on all the cards.

On his left stands the ‘Big Blind’, which in turned must make a double bet that the small blind made. It is important to say that if two or more players to have the same card, the color of the cards do not have any influence in determining the winner by the hand.
