Seven Card Stud Eight or Better
Seven Card Stud Eights or Better is played in the same way as Seven Card Stud. The major difference is that it is a split pot game, which makes it a little more interesting and allows for more ways of winning part of the pot.
Seven Card Stud Eights or Better is also regularly referred to as Seven Card Stud High Low. The game works the same in that each player is dealt seven cards. Three are dealt face down and four are dealt face up.
To create a winning Hi or Lo hand, you can use any of five of the cards dealt to you. If there is no qualifying Lo hand, the player with the best Hi hand will win the whole pot. If there is a qualifying Lo and Hi hand, the pot is split.
In a qualifying Lo hand there would be no pairs. It can consist of any cards from 8 downwards. In a Lo hand straights and flushes are disregarded. As a result the lowest possible Lo hand you can have is A,2,3,4,5.
The interesting twist is that your qualifying Lo hand can also be the best Hi hand, in which case the whole pot is yours.
